We live in a world where advice is everywhere. Books, podcasts, AI, newsletters, and endless online content promise the answers to almost every challenge. Yet despite having more information than ever before, many leaders still find themselves making difficult decisions alone.
For Dr. Rishi Verma, that's the real problem.

A physician, entrepreneur, and founder of The Vault, he believes that what people need isn't more information—it's better conversations. The kind that happen in trusted rooms where honesty replaces performance, perspectives are challenged, and growth happens through genuine human connection.
In this conversation with IKONIK Magazine, Dr. Verma opens up about the experiences that led him to create The Vault, why success can often feel isolating, and how meaningful relationships, accountability, and fresh perspectives are helping high-performing men become stronger leaders, better partners, more present fathers, and more fulfilled individuals.
For those discovering you for the first time, can you tell us about The Vault and the mission behind what you're building?
The Vault is a private peer forum for accomplished men who want more than networking. We bring together small groups of trusted members who meet regularly to discuss the real decisions, challenges, and opportunities shaping their lives.
Our mission is to help men gain perspective, build meaningful relationships, and become better leaders, fathers, partners, and human beings. In a world overflowing with information, The Vault is built around something much rarer: honest conversation, trusted counsel, and genuine connection.
You've spent years working in medicine, leadership, and entrepreneurship. What experiences ultimately inspired you to create The Vault?
Through my career, I noticed the same pattern in medicine, business, and leadership. Successful people had access to information, but lacked the space to discuss important decisions with people who truly understood their challenges.
As a physician, entrepreneur, and leader, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable perspective can be. The Vault was born from the belief that growth happens faster when smart, experienced people come together in an environment built on trust, honesty, and confidentiality. I ultimately created the room I wanted for myself.
You often speak about perspective being more valuable than information. What do you mean by that, and why do you believe so many people struggle despite having access to endless information?
Information tells you what is possible. Perspective helps you understand importance.
Today, we have unlimited access to books, podcasts, videos, and AI, yet many people still feel stuck. People are not challenged by lack of information. The challenge for many of us is a lack of real conversation with like-minded people with real life experience.

That’s where trusted conversations become so valuable. The right perspective can save years of trial and error and help you make better decisions faster.
Through your work with patients, founders, executives, and high-performing individuals, what patterns have you observed about where people tend to get stuck?
Most people do not get stuck because they lack intelligence or work ethic. They get stuck because they are too close to their own situation.
We all have blind spots. We become attached to certain ideas, routines, and ways of thinking. Using modern day AI systems can often amplify those blind spots, as they serve as echo chambers to tell us what we want to hear.
The people who continue to evolve are the ones who demand accountability, seek honest feedback, and are willing to challenge their own assumptions.
The Vault was created to combine the caliber of executive forums with the depth of meaningful conversation. Why do you think so many accomplished people still struggle to find spaces where they can be fully honest?
Success often creates isolation.
The more responsibility a person carries, the fewer people they feel comfortable speaking openly with. Colleagues, friends, and family members only see part of the picture.
Therefore, most conversations stay surface-level. Truly honest conversations require trust, confidentiality, and dedication of time. Those environments are rare, which is why so many successful people quietly carry challenges on their own.
What are some of the most important lessons you've learned about leadership, decision-making, and personal growth over the years?
I’ve learned that better decisions usually come from better thinking, not faster thinking.
The strongest leaders are the ones who listen well, stay curious, and remain open to changing their minds when new information emerges.

I’ve also learned that growth rarely happens in isolation. The people who continue to evolve surround themselves with others who challenge, support, and help visualize what they cannot see on their own.
Many high-performing men appear successful externally while privately carrying significant pressure. Why do you think this happens, and what are the consequences when those conversations never take place?
Success does not eliminate pressure. It creates it.
As men take on greater responsibilities in family, business, and life, they feel they need to have all the answers. This burden of holding responsibility builds over time.
Without trusted people to speak openly with, that burden becomes heavier over time. Perspective narrows, stress increases, and important decisions are made in isolation.
What role do trusted relationships and honest feedback play in becoming a better leader, entrepreneur, partner, or father?
None of us see ourselves clearly all the time. We all have blind spots.
Trusted relationships provide perspective when we need it most. They challenge our assumptions, help us see situations from a different angle, and hold us accountable to the standards we set for ourselves.
The quality of our decisions is a reflection of the quality of the conversations we have.
Looking back on your own journey, what experiences have shaped your understanding of growth, connection, and human behavior the most?
Medicine taught me that each person has their own battles you cannot see.
Entrepreneurship taught me that growth comes from uncertainty, adversity, and taking responsibility.
My relationships have taught me that human connection is one of the most important factors in a meaningful life.
At the end of the day, people want to be understood, challenged, and supported by people they trust.
You are part of Internet Masterminds, a vetted community where founders and executives come together to share knowledge, connections, and resources. What has being surrounded by ambitious entrepreneurs and leaders taught you about growth, leadership, and the importance of community?
Being around ambitious people has reinforced a simple lesson: no one achieves meaningful success alone.
Behind every successful leader is a group of people who have helped them navigate difficult decisions.
Community fosters growth. The people you surround yourself with influence your thinking, your standards, and your vision of what is possible. Few factors have a greater impact on the life you ultimately create.
If The Vault succeeds beyond your wildest expectations over the next decade, what impact do you hope it will have on the lives of the men who walk through its doors?
The Vault exists to confirm to men that they do not need to navigate life alone.
It provides access to meaningful conversations, lasting friendships, and positive role models, and it will do so at a larger scale. It will enable younger men to gain wisdom from those who have walked the path before them, while experienced men will find purpose in helping others.
Strong men create strong families, businesses, and communities. That’s the bigger vision.
