For those discovering you for the first time, can you tell us about Suited Booted & Co. and the vision behind what you're building?
Suited Booted & Co. is a tailoring house based in Vancouver, built for people who treat the way they show up as part of how they lead. We design and custom-make suits, tuxedos, shirts, and formalwear from the world's finest mills — Zegna, Guabello, Scabal, Marzotto, VBC, Reda, Marzoni— and we bring the entire fitting room to our clients' homes, offices, and boardrooms.
The vision is simple, but the standard isn't: build clothing that fits one person and one person only, finish it by hand, deliver it in three to four weeks, and make the entire experience feel like a private commission rather than a transaction. We're not chasing volume. We're building a house — one client, one garment, one fitting at a time.
The name "Suited Booted" carries a deeply personal meaning connected to your father. Can you share that story?
"Suited booted" was my father's phrase. Whenever we left the house for something that mattered — a meeting, a celebration, a moment worth standing up straight for — he'd say it with this quiet pride. It wasn't really about the clothes. It was about the posture behind them. Discipline. Self-respect. Showing up like you meant it.
I lost him in 2014. Grief doesn't leave you, but at some point, it asks you what you're going to do with it. For me, the answer was to build something that carried his voice forward in the only language I knew how to speak fluently — craftsmanship. So the name isn't marketing. It's a sentence my father used to say, and now hundreds of clients hear it every time they put on something we made. That's the legacy. He's still in the room.
What role do you believe personal presentation plays in confidence, leadership, and opportunity?
Presentation is the first sentence you speak in any room — long before you open your mouth. People decide whether to lean in or lean back inside the first few seconds, and they're rarely wrong about what they're reading. They're reading care. Intention. Standard.
When a suit actually fits — shoulders sitting clean, chest breathing, trousers breaking exactly where it should — something physical happens to the person wearing it. Posture changes. Breath deepens. Eye contact holds longer. I've watched it happen in mirrors hundreds of times. Confidence isn't a personality trait you're born with; it's often a body in clothing that finally agrees with it. And leadership is presence. Presentation is a presence made visible.

What are the biggest misconceptions about bespoke tailoring?
Four come up constantly.
First, that it's only for the ultra-wealthy. A bespoke garment that fits properly and lasts a decade is almost always more rational per wear than a closet of off-the-rack suits that get rotated out every two years.
Second, that "custom" and "bespoke" are the same word. They aren't. Made-to-measure adjusts a pre-existing block. True bespoke builds a pattern from scratch, for one body, and refines it across multiple fittings. Different craft entirely.
Third, it takes forever. Ours is three to four weeks, end-to-end.
And fourth — the one I care about most — that bespoke is about showing off. The best bespoke is actually the quietest. Hand-finished buttonholes, a canvas that moves with you, a lapel roll you can feel but most people will never notice. It's personal. It's for you. The world just gets to benefit from the version of you that walks in wearing it.

What inspired you to bring the fitting room directly to clients?
Time. Our clients are executives, founders, lawyers, surgeons, athletes — people whose calendars are already negotiating with them. Asking them to fight traffic, find parking, and sit in a showroom for an hour felt like the wrong opening move for a relationship built on respect.
So we reversed it. We bring the fabrics, the books, the measuring, the fittings — the entire atelier — to their office or living room. It's more intimate, it's more honest (you see how they actually live and dress), and it sends a message before we've cut a single piece of cloth: your time is the luxury here, not ours.
What have client milestones taught you about confidence, identity, and showing up?
I've dressed men for their weddings, their fathers' funerals, their first day as CEO, their TED stage, their citizenship ceremony, their kid's graduation. Different moments, same truth: people don't really come to me for a suit. They come because they're about to step into a version of themselves they haven't fully met yet, and they want the outside to match.
What I've learned is that clothing doesn't create confidence — it removes the friction that was hiding it. When someone stops thinking about their jacket, their collar, the way their trousers are sitting, all of that mental bandwidth gets returned to the moment. They get to be fully present. And presence, in any milestone, is the whole game.
Why do craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail matter so much to you?
Because they're honest. You can fake a lot of things in business — a logo, a website, a pitch deck — but you can't fake a hand-stitched lapel or a balanced shoulder. The cloth tells the truth about how much care went into it. Always.
I grew up around the idea that how you do small things is how you do everything. A millimetre matters. A finished seam on the inside of a jacket matters, even though no one will ever see it. Especially because no one will ever see it — that's the test. Craftsmanship is a private standard you keep with yourself, and life rewards the people who keep it whether anyone is watching or not.

What separates truly successful professionals from everyone else in how they carry themselves?
They've stopped performing and started arriving. The genuinely successful people I dress are remarkably calm. They listen more than they speak. They don't over-explain themselves. Their clothing is considered but never loud, because they don't need the suit to do the talking — they trust themselves to do that.
The common thread is standard. They have a baseline they don't negotiate with — for their work, their word, their fitness, their appearance, the people they spend time with. Everyone else is constantly recalibrating based on the room. The successful ones bring the room to them.
What lessons have shaped you most as a founder?
A few that cost me something to learn.
One — your reputation is built in the unglamorous moments. Returning the call. Honouring the timeline. Re-cutting the garment when it's almost right but not quite. Nobody talks about the boring excellence, but it's the entire business.
Two — say no faster. Every yes to the wrong client, wrong project, wrong distraction is a no to the work that actually matters.
Three — the brand is the founder, especially early. Clients aren't buying a logo; they're buying you. So become someone worth buying from.
And four — grief, fear, and ambition can sit at the same table. You don't need to resolve them. You just need to keep showing up while they argue.
What has being part of Internet Masterminds taught you about growth and community?
That you cannot out-hustle the right room. I've been in rooms where I was the smallest operator at the table, and every single one of those rooms compressed years of learning into months. Founders who are a few steps ahead will tell you the truth about what they got wrong, if you ask properly and listen harder than you talk.
Community has also taught me that ambition is contagious — and so is mediocrity. You really do become the standard of the people you're closest to. Choose carefully. Show up generously. Give before you ask. The compounding on that is unreal.

If Suited Booted & Co. succeeds beyond your wildest expectations over the next decade, what impact do you hope it will have?
I want us to become the house that a generation of Canadian leaders quietly trusts — the suit they wear to close the deal, marry their person, bury their father, accept the award, walk into the next chapter. I want a young entrepreneur in Vancouver to put on his first proper bespoke suit with us and feel the same shift in his shoulders that I felt the first time my dad straightened my collar.
And on the craft side — I want to help rebuild a respect for slow, hand-finished work in a culture that's forgotten what it feels like. Fast fashion taught people that clothing is disposable. I'd like to be part of the small movement teaching them, again, that it can be inheritance.
If we do that, the suits are almost beside the point. We'll have changed how a lot of good people walk into rooms. That's the legacy I'm working toward — the one my father started, in a sentence, a long time ago.
