From EMACO to Enza Home: A New Chapter in Design and Entrepreneurship

An MBA-trained entrepreneur brings his passion for quality design to Canada, turning a personal challenge into a thriving business

Let's go back to the very beginning. What were you doing before you started your business?(e.g., in a corporate job, a student, a parent at home?)

Before I started this business, I was already an entrepreneur back home. I ran a company called EMACO, where I worked with international brands in industrial equipment and environmental technologies.

I also have an MBA and a background in project management, so business has always been part of my life. But when my family and I moved to Canada in 2024, I wanted to start something fresh here — something that combined my love for design, quality products, and entrepreneurship. That’s how I began my journey with Enza Home and Yataş Bedding in BC.

Was there a specific "lightbulb moment," a personal frustration, or a key experience that pushedyou to turn your idea into a real business? (Please tell us the story!)

My ‘aha moment’ came the same way it does for many newcomers, while trying to furnish my own home. We went shopping in Vancouver and I kept thinking, why are the choices either unaffordable or low quality?

Back in Turkey, Enza Home and Yataş Bedding were household names, trusted for their modern design and comfort, and I thought, why not bring that same experience here? That frustration turned into inspiration, and soon after I began building the business to make it real

What was the very first step you took? (e.g., bought a domain name, made your first product, told a friend your idea?)

The very first step I took was not selling or setting up a store, it was research. I wanted to be absolutely certain that EnzaHome and Yataş Bedding could compete successfully in the Canadian market.

I spent nearly eight months conducting a detailed feasibility study, including market research, price comparisons, competitor evaluations, and customer needs analysis. My goal was to identify whether our brands had the right core competencies for this environment.

Once I had prepared a complete business plan with real numbers and insights, I presented it to our headquarters in Turkey. Thanks to the professional marketing team in Headquarter office, after several meetings with the marketing department, they agreed with my findings, that British Columbia represented a strong opportunity for our brand, and gave their full support to move forward.

Beyond making a profit, what is the core mission of your business? What change do you want tocreate for your customers or in your industry?

For me, it’s not just about selling sofas or mattresses. It’s about helping people feel truly at home. I want our customers to enjoy beautiful, comfortable, and long-lasting furniture without feeling like they had to overpay for it.

In this market, I saw too many people forced to choose between luxury brands that cost too much and cheap products that don’t last. Our mission is to give families in BC a better option, high-quality, modern furniture at fair prices, and to make the whole process more personal and supportive, from design advice to after-sales service.

What is the one problem you are most passionate about solving for your clients?

The problem I really care about solving is that here in BC, people often have to choose between paying a fortune for nice furniture or buying something cheap that won’t last. That’s exactly what EnzaHome and Yataş Bedding have already fixed in 35 countries around the world, offering beautiful, durable, and affordable products all at once. I’m excited to finally bring that same solution to families here in Canada.

I couldn’t imagine doing anything else because I love helping people make their homes beautiful and comfortable without overpaying. Seeing a family find the perfect sofa or a mattress that changes their sleep makes all the hard work worth it.

Every journey has hurdles. What was a significant obstacle you faced in building your business, and how did you overcome it? (This makes your story relatable and inspiring.)

One of the biggest obstacles I faced was starting a business in a completely new country as a recent immigrant. Beyond the usual challenges of launching a company, such as logistics, financing, and building a customer base, I also had to learn how the Canadian market operates, navigate regulations, and build a professional network from scratch.

It was not easy. What helped me overcome this was my persistence and structured approach: I invested months into research, worked closely with our headquarters in Turkey, and gradually built relationships with local partners, designers, and customers. Step by step, those early challenges became the foundation for our growth.

What has been your single biggest "pinch me" moment or achievement so far? (A sale, a thankyou note, a milestone?)

My biggest ‘pinch me’ moment was when I received the official confirmation from Yataş Headquarters in Turkey approving my business plan and granting me the exclusive rights to represent EnzaHome and Yataş Bedding in British Columbia.

After months of market research and preparation, having their trust and support felt like a major milestone, it turned an idea into a real, global-backed business. It was the moment I knew this journey was truly possible.

What is a misconception people might have about your job or industry that you'd like to clear up?

A common misconception in our industry is that all furniture or mattresses are basically the same, and the only difference is the price. In reality, there are big differences in quality, durability, and even the technology inside. For example, Yataş mattresses use advanced spring systems and innovative filling materials developed over decades, which directly impact comfort and long-term health.

Similarly, Enza Home furniture is designed with a balance of durability, modern aesthetics, and functionality — not just looks. What may look similar on the surface can be completely different once you live with it, and that’s the value we want to bring to our customers

Today, what does your business do, and who do you do it for? (Describe your ideal client)

Today, our business focuses on bringing Enza Home and Yataş Bedding’s high-quality furniture and bedding products to British Columbia through our e-commerce platform, enzahomefurniture.ca.

We serve both individual customers who want to furnish their homes with modern, durable, and affordable designs, and business clients such as interior designers, real estate developers, hotels, and builders who need furnishing solutions for larger projects.

Our ideal clients are those who value a balance of style, quality, and fair pricing, and who want products that elevate their living spaces without overpaying for luxury branding.

What sets you apart from others in your field? What's your unique secret sauce? (e.g., yourprocess, your perspective, your values)

What sets us apart is the combination of global expertise and local focus. Enza Home and Yataş Bedding are trusted brands in more than 35 countries, known for delivering modern design, durability, and fair pricing.

Another unique strength is that we launch new designs and home collections every year, allowing customers to furnish their bedroom, living room, and dining room in the same stylish design language. In British Columbia, this fills a major gap between expensive luxury brands and low-quality imports.

Our ‘secret sauce’ is blending this global design power with a customer-centered approach, offering coordinated collections, transparent pricing, and personalized interior design support.

What do you want people to feel when they interact with your brand?

When people interact with our brand, I want them to feel a sense of trust, comfort, and inspiration. Trust, because they know they are choosing a company with nearly 50 years of experience, established in 1976, and trusted in more than 35 countries worldwide.

Comfort, because our products are designed not only to look stylish but also to be functional and durable for everyday use. And inspiration, because our yearly collections allow them to create a home where every room, bedroom, living room, and dining room, connects in one elegant design. Our long history, combined with this focus on practical, everyday living, is what makes the experience complete.

Looking ahead, what’s the next big dream for your business? (A new product, a book, a biggerteam?)

Looking ahead, my big dream is to expand Enza Home and Yataş Bedding across British Columbia and beyond. We are starting with e-commerce and plan to open flagship showrooms in key cities of BC. From there, my vision is to extend into Western Canada and United State.

At the same time, we want to grow our B2B side, furnishing hotels, residential projects, and commercial spaces, and to continue building a strong team that shares our values. Ultimately, my dream is to make our brand the first choice for stylish, high-quality, and everyday-usable furniture in this region

How do you hope your story inspires others?

I hope my story shows people that success comes from more than just dreaming — it’s about finding a real need, solving it, and turning that solution into reality. When I came to Canada, I spent months studying what was missing in the market and how I could fill that gap.

That’s how Enza Home and Yataş Bedding found its place here. My message to others is simple: look for problems, find the needs, and then build your solution. If you do that with passion and persistence, you can achieve something meaningful no matter where you start.
